Observers:

Weather:
Well, it was cold today. I never thought I'd be happy to see a SW wind, but
on a day like today where it was blowing 28km/h with gusts up to 40km/h, it
sure was nice to have the wind at your back. Temperatures started at -9C
and went up to -6C. There was variable cloud cover through the day and the
good visibility of the morning started to deteriorate around 1:30 when full
cloud cover came in.

Raptor Observations:
There was some good variety today with 7 species migrating. An early
morning Peregrine started the day off well, struggling a little against the
wind but still doing a fair number at zipping around the marsh. In a moment
with just the perfect amount of sunlight a juvenile Golden Eagle veered
from its course at the north side of the marsh to pass by not far from the
tower; how considerate of it! An Osprey was seen again today, though it
came from the NW and travelled SE to the beach where it seemed to be
hunting and went out of sight.

Non-raptor Observations:
Last night seemed to have been hard on some of the passerines. Upon arrival
in the morning, a couple dozen cardinals, sparrows and starlings were all
sitting on the road and not flying far with some ice/snow coating their
feathers. They all seemed to fly into the brush just fine as the day wore
on. Other than some starlings, robins and Red-winged Blackbirds, passerines
were laying low. Gulls were certainly not put off by the wind, with over
100 Bonaparte's Gulls flying through and around 100 Ring-billed and Herring
Gulls. See today's eBird list

Predictions:
A little bit of snow through the day with winds from the S at 35km/h.
Temperature from -6C to 1C.
