I had a juvenile Iceland Gull yesterday at the Russell landfill, the first of the fall.
Brian Morin Directions: Russell is southeast of Ottawa. From Russell head south on Russell Rd to Route 400. Turn left/east and proceed two roads to Ste. Catherine Rd. Head south 2.4 km. The dump is open only from 12:00 - 4:00. Tell the attendant you are going in to watch birds. Also check for Lesser Black-backed Gulls, particularly adults, which are present periodically.
