Weather: Sunny and clear throughout, the wind was moderate and out of the west. Raptor Observations: Ospreys were up and active. Not much else was interested in moving, though. Non-raptor Observations: Red-winged Blackbird (80+), Common Grackle (25+) and American Goldfinch (45+) were moving in the morning. Small numbers of American Robin, Mourning Dove and House Finch were detected. All five swallow species (Bank, Barn, Tree, Rough-winged and Martin) were present and accounted for. Chimney Swifts (15+) were also more noticeable today. The location is at the mouth of the Detroit River as it enters Lake Erie. Directions to site: Lake Erie Metropark: >From I-75, exit at Huron River Drive (exit 27). Continue east on Huron River Drive. Turn left on West Jefferson and proceed a few hundred yards to the entrance of Lake Erie Metropark.
