A quiet week for bird sightings.
A good representation of local breeding birds are reflected by the following
sighting reports;
a 3 hr 45 min, 7 km walk on June 27th near Flag Station Rd north of Kars; 43
species including SPOTTED SANDPIPER (1), BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO (a pair),
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER (10), EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE (2), EASTERN PHOEBE (1),
GREAT-CRESTED FLYCATCHER (1), RED-EYED VIREO (15), HOUSE WREN (1), VEERY (16),
NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH (5), CEDAR WAXWING (16), OVENBIRD (11), BLACK-AND-WHITE
(5), COMMON YELLOWTHROAT (37) and YELLOW (4) WARBLERS, CHIPPING (6), FIELD (1),
SAVANNAH (1), SONG (40), SWAMP (2) and WHITE-THROATED (13) SPARROWS and
SCARLET TANAGER (1).

At Chemin Indian Creek Rd on the west edge of Larose Forest a home owner with
excellent bird feeders and bird habitat reported on the 1st; EVENING GROSBEAK
(adults and 6 young birds), PURPLE FINCH (20 adults and 7 fledglings), TREE
SPARROW (presently feeding the second batch of young), GREEN HERON (2 visiting
pond regularly) and CEDAR WAXWING.
Interesting sightings;
- CAROLINA WREN singing regularly near intersection of Driscoll Dr and Jean
Park Rd on Manotick Island
- HORNED GREBE (1) at the Russell lagoons on the 1st
