The highlight was again a Rough-legged Hawk, this one a dark morph and much closer. Non-raptor Observations: It was a finch-filled morning. Flocks of White-winged Crossbill (20+), Common Redpoll (15+) and Pine Siskin (110+) all passed overhead and small numbers of Red Crossbill (2), American Goldfinch (8) and House Finch (12) were noted as well. Also, Tundra Swans (60+) continue to be detected with increasing frequency. Predictions: Partly sunny with highs in the low 50s, light southeast wind and morning fog. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The primary site used by the Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and it's Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
