Thanks to everyone for hanging in there today despite all the UGLY weather! Weather: Another rotten weather day...though with such strong SW winds it was no surprise that the Peregrines were on the move. Temp much cooler to a high of 18C with cloud throughout the day...and a 3-hour rain delay at midday then opening back up a bit as the cold front passed to the east. Raptor Observations: Total birds today ...29...a third of which were Peregrines (10)...also Osprey (5), N. Harrier (4), Sharpies (2) and Kestrels (8). 2 PGs came thru together at 10:05, and 3 PGs came thru at 2:10. Non-raptor Observations: On the non-raptor front today....Red Bellied Woodbecker, Indigo Buntings, Common Loons, RT Hummingbirds, Blue Jays (approx 200), Am. Goldfinches, Tree Swallow and a single flying shorebird that went unidentified. Predictions: More SW winds for Friday....but there's also a 50% chance of rain sometime during the day. Often the Peregrines fly through even during nasty weather so it may be worth stopping down to the hawkwatch. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.on.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
