Observation start time: 09:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 6 hours

Official Counter: Sarah Rupert

Observers: Bob Hall-Brooks, Todd Pepper

Visitors:
There were few visitors to the tower today, outside of HBMO volunteers. We
enjoyed the company of visitors from Ohio and Oakville ON today.

Weather:
Blustery day. Rain and thunderstorms were present for the early morning
hours, after the front passed through, winds continued strong from the NW,
with sun and cloud.

Raptor Observations:
Raptors began to move after the front passed, dominated by Sharp-shinned
Hawks and American Kestrels. An immature Peregrine Falcon put on a great
show, chasing a Cooper's Hawk for the better part of 20 minutes around the
tower.

Non-raptor Observations:
There was very little passerine activity today. The morning rain and high
winds kept birds hidden. A small flight of Blue Jays (54) was noted today
and there continued to be strong movements of swallows and American
Goldfinches.

Predictions:
The wind will wind down tomorrow, starting out from the west, swinging to
the southwest in the afternoon. Skies will be partly sunny, so if there
are raptors moving, there will be some clouds to help break up the blue
sky.
