St. Hilaire, Quebec and a couple from Kitchener, Ontario Weather: Warm to hot with a closing temperature of 27.3. Very light winds that shifted direction all day. Mostly cloudy. Raptor Observations: A slow first day with only 7 raptors migrating past the tower today. Non-raptor Observations: There was a heavy migration of songbirds all through the Holiday Beach Conservation Area all day, for the third day in a row. Blackpoll Warblers lead the parade, but 11 other species of Warbler were observed including: Tennessee, Nashville, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Cape May, Black-throated Blue, Pine, Bay-breasted, Black-and-White, American Redstart and Ovenbird. Red-breasted Nuthatch and Northern Cardinal were also present in good numbers. Predictions: The weather prediction for Sunday is a copy of today's weather. All signs are that the song bird migration will continue in strenght. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Todd Pepper (pepper_t...@yahoo.ca) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
