Greetings,
This morning Fred Helleiner found a Plegadis ibis on Gull Island at
Presqu'ile Provincial Park. The bird was visible from Owen Pt. for
about an hour as it fed along the north shore of the island 50 m from
the eastern tip, near the base of the first rocky spit (where the big
boulders are), then it flew around for a few minutes and landed out of
view in the pond area of Gull Island, where it still is as of 30
minutes ago. Unfortunately the bird is too far away to identify to
species. There are no obvious white markings on the face. A few
distant pics have been taken to confirm as plegadis spp.
Cheers,
Doug McRae
