Avian Observers:
Like most early spring migrants which have arrived
this year 10 days to 2 weeks early. The first two tree swallows showed up at
Monarch Landing this afternoon, circling over the meadow.
This was not their home , and they soon moved on. . . you
may see them tomorrow.
Throngs of American robins and mixed flocks of
blackbirds continue to move east along the shoreline early in the morning and
late in the day. Tundra swans moving west and north were much lighter today
than in the last few days. Eastern Phoebe and Woodcock have been here for a
week and no doubt the woodcock will be serenading me in the twilight tonight.
Given the long-range weather forcast virtually everyone
in Ontario should have a few early spring birds this week. Hope you get a good
one!
The Rose-breasted Grosebeak in Burwell seems to have just moved on, and
we had an unconfirmed report of a Redheaded Woodpecker, which also appears to
have been a pit stop. Enjoy the great weather. . . somebody must have a snipe?
Good birding Aa(ron)
Port Burwell is at the southern terminus of hiway 19,(Vienna Road). Take the
Ingersol-Tillsonburg exit south from 401.
