Weather: There was some blue to be seen upon arrival but that was quickly snuffed out by overcast skies, which lingered for the rest of the day. Misty rain began to pour down just before we left. The wind, moderate to strong throughout, was out of the northwest. Raptor Observations: A solid day of late November movement that could have been much better with a little more clearing and a little less wind. Red-shouldered hawks were well-represented. All four golden eagles were detected over a 45-minute span during the 1 o'clock hour. Non-raptor Observations: American crows were moving today. More than 10,000 crows could be seen migrating past. Predictions: A 100 percent chance of heavy rain, rendering a hawkcount unlikely. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The primary site used by the Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and it's Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
