Thank you everyone who offered information and help with the release of the birds. Unfortunately only one was releasable. With the help of Winnie Wake I was able to release him at South Secondary School in London.
It was wonderful to watch them all coming in to roost. The swift was banded by Bill Read. He was very excited to hear the others coming and eventually took off. We won't really know how well he did but he was released. It's rather like sending a child off and wishing him well.
