Late this afternoon, probably at about 3:30 pm, a single COMMON LOON descended on Shade's Lake. The bird could be seen from the main office of the Grand River Conservation Authority.
Other species observed recently include BUFFLEHEAD, COMMON MERGANSER, HOODED MERGANSER, GREATER SCAUP, TRUMPETER SWAN, SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, COOPER's HAWK, and REDTAIL HAWK. Hundreds of TREE SWALLOWs have been seen foraging just meters over the lake. Directions: The GRCA's Head Office is located at 400 Clyde Road in the south end of Cambridge.
