While doing our sector count for the Richmond Hill CBC today (Saturday 18 December), Jim and Sharon Bradley, Rett Durham and I saw a flock of eight Horned Larks on Bethesda Road in Whitchurch-Stouffville at 14:45 hrs. They were feeding in the fields near the road, and along the shoulders of Bethesda Road, between Warden and Kennedy Rds. Nearby was a mixed flock of twenty Dark-eyed Juncos and American Tree Sparrows.
Directions: From Hwy 404 take Stouffville Road Exit 38. Travel east 3 km to Warden Avenue. Go North 2 km on Warden to Bethesda Road. The birds were in the fields on both the north and south sides, 400 meters from Warden Avenue. When in the fields, they were no more than 50 meters from the road's edge. Charles R.
