Visitors:
Thanks to everyone that helped with today's count...Jim Dunn, Mary
Carnahan, Mac McAlpine, Colin Horstead, Phil Waggett, Wayne Parnall and
Kathy. It's been a great run this season...and we simply wouldn't have the
amazing counts we've had without such volunteers onsite pretty much every
day since late August! and now there's just a a few days to go till another
season's wrapped up. :)

Weather:
A very cold day at the Cliff today started out at 1 Deg and climbed to a
BALMY 3 Deg by noon.

Raptor Observations:
As usual, all activity was between the hours of 11.00 A.M. and 2.00 P.M.
Total birds for the day was 118.

Notable sightings were 1 MERLIN, 1 OSPREY, 7 HARRIERS and 10 more GOLDENS.

Non-raptor Observations:
Around 11:00 AM today, the NORTHERN SHRIKE put in another appearance and
perched on a hawthorn tree to the left of the elm. A couple of brief
excursions to the Cliff yielded the usual CHICKADEES, etc. and a SONG
SPARROW with a unique, rather husky version of "Maids, maids!". In
addition, Mac spotted the FIELD SPARROWS again plus a PURPLE FINCH. Later,
back at the B&B a flock of AMERICAN ROBINS flew low overhead tracking
westward.

Today's most unusual sighting was an AMERICAN CROW with white patches on
its wings, reported by Mac and Colin seen at the B&B as it flew eastward
toward the large Elm in the field.
