Hi Birders Wow...I'm still a little bit in shock! I was working away at my desk this afternoon, enjoying all the chickadees milling around outside my office, when a hummingbird buzzed in. It landed in the Hop Tree just outside my window, just long enough for me to see it's orangy flanks and greenish back, before taking off and flying due east along the side of the building. I often see Ruby-throats in this space and it was most definitely the same sized bird. We've been out looking around the building, but have not been able to find it again. I have a feeling the bird has continued on.
On a happy note - construction on the Tip road is almost completed and the road will be open to the Tip by the end of the week! More details to follow.
