Weather: Today was easily the thickest most consistent fog all week. When it finally lightened up it was noon, but it cleared up 100%. The predicted rain showers from the west showed up as scheduled, right about 4pm. The wind at our altitude was light out of the east, but the rain rode in on high level winds which were much stronger. Raptor Observations: Raptor migration was seemingly non-existent in the 3 hours we had. Red-tailed Hawks streamed by about 1 every 15 minuets, 1 Golden Eagle and 1 Red-shouldered Hawk mixed it up a little. We did have 2 different Cooper's Hawks going the wrong way. Non-raptor Observations: At the time the rain clouds were reaching overhead, a Little Gull was found at the Cove Point Picnic Area inside our Metropark. Nearly all of the present hawk watchers made it down there in time to catch it, it did not stay around long, but it did fly north along our channel of the Detroit River. 35 Tundra Swans were also seen flying south, some were heard early through the fog, but could not be seen. Predictions: Tomorrow has an off chance of rain, and wind looks to strengthen considerably. It's tough to say what tomorrow will hold, but most likely it will be slow again. Monday and early Tuesday look to be our best chances out of the next week. More rain is due on late Tuesday into late Thursday, perhaps our fist snowfall as well. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
