Weather: Hot and hazy was the theme of the day; as visibility was counted in meters, and heat was in the 90's. We spiked our heat at 1:15pm with an impressive 94 degrees Fahrenheit. Raptor Observations: An incredibly slow day despite the season. The high temperatures and the very low visualization made it very hard to find migrants. Most raptors that where moving probably used the high thermals to rise above our strong cover of have. Almost all we saw where falcons and accipiters. A total of 13 species of 4 species. Non-raptor Observations: Predictions: A low pressure system is moving in from the southwest which is riding on some extremely strong winds. Winds are predicted to be in the teens with gusts in 30s. Another slow day is in order as only the strongest fliers will brave the winds. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
