Ian Cannell picked me up to join 10 other hawk watchers; we stayed from 9AM to 3PM. I thank Steve Wood, Joyce Collier-Brown, Alan Woods and Jim Skene for putting up with the rest of us by entering the great numbers of migrating raptors as they flew over our heads. Indeed, Jim may still be there!.
Over the first 7 hours 483 hawks were counted, along with at least 600 Monarch butterflies. Incomplete raptor count highlights-up to 3PM-- 18 OSPREY, 7 BALD EAGLE, 307 SHARP-SHINNED, 12 BROAD-WINGED, 125 AM.KESTREL, 4 MERLIN, 6 PEREGRINE FALCON Among the non-raptors---very many Hummingbirds, 10 Warbler species, 3 Vireo species, 3 Flycatcher species, 5 Common Loons, Great Egret, Black-crowned Night Heron, Virginia rail, Wilson`s plover.
