On Friday at 3:00 pm while on a Birdathon, we had a number of shorebirds at the lagoons including a Western SP, White-Rumped, Least, both Semi-Palmated's, Lesser Yellowlegs, and lots of Spotted.
Ducks included Ruddy, Gadwall, Wigeon, Ring-Necked, Hooded Merganser (both male and female), both Teals, and a probably female Canvasback with a brood. DIRECTIONS AND WARNING: >From Highway 3 between Jarvis and Simcoe, follow the sign north to Townsend. Turn left at first road. Lagoons are a couple of hundred metres away on your right. Do not park in the truck turn-off. WARNING: THERE ARE "NO TRESPASSING" SIGNS ALL OVER, AND I'M NOT SURE WHETHER THERE IS ANY ENFORCEMENT. SO IF YOU GO, ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
