Today just after 3:00pm there were 2 Snowy Owls seen about half way along Ravenshoe Rd west from Leslie St to the end of the road. One was about a kilometre south just east of the yellow digger. (Probably the same one that was seen and reported by Ron Fleming on Saturday). The other was about 100 meters north of Ravenshoe Rd. in the same area. This one was pristine white and was easy to spot on the black soil. While I was watching him in my binoculars I could see a Harrier coming in directly at the Snowy from the north. It wasn't till the last second the Harrier pulled up and flew south across the road. The Snowy wasn't particularly perturbed by this. Shortly the Snowy flew closer and up to the top of a power pole on the side of the road so we had a great look at this beautiful bird.
Ravenshoe Rd is about 70 km from downtown Toronto up the 404 or Leslie St to Ravenshoe Rd west. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
