Hey Birders,
My Dad Jim and I took a quick trip up to Conestoga Lake around 4:30 today. Arriving at the dam at Conestoga Lake, a flock of 51(!!!) Brant flew over heading ESE, roughly following the Conestoga River. There was also a female Long-tailed Duck, 3 Snow Geese (white morph - same birds as last week). On the way home, we had our first Rough-legged Hawk of the season. Also of interest, last week a female Black Scoter was seen at Laurel Creek in Waterloo on October 16-17. Directions: >From Waterloo head north on Hwy 85 to Elmira. Turn left at Listowel Rd, which turns into Line 86. Follow that west to Dorking and turn north at Wellington Rd 11, and follow that (you will need to make a right then left to stay on it) to the dam. There are a couple parking spots on top of the dam.
