This afternoon at 4:00 p.m. I refound the second alternate Laughing Gull
found by Brandon Holden a few weeks ago which was refound this week. The
bird was on top of one of the compost heaps at the back of the property but
was found this morning by Kevin McLaughlin in the field to the east. This
bird needless to say moves around a lot. Patience and a sense of humour is
needed to walk through this facility. There were also shorebirds in various
spots. I managed to dodge the rain and as I was coming out the rain started
again but earlier reports stated Lesser Yellowlegs, Solitary and Least
Sandpipers.

Please adhere to the rules of entering the facility during open hours. Sign
in at the desk and obtain a safety vest. Keep out of the way of equipment.
Wellies/Rubber Boots are highly recommended. Its not the most beautiful
place in the world but has high potential for some excellent rarities in the
weeks to come.

Cheers,

Cheryl Edgecombe

Directions:

Take the 403 to Hwy 6 north to Clappison's Corners. At Hwy 5 (Clappison's
Corners where the Wendy's is), turn left (west) and continue on this for
about 15 minutes past Peter's Corners and past Orkney Road. The facility is
on the north side of the road past Orkney. The office is open Monday to
Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays until noon. Closed Sundays.
I did have a word with the farmer who owns the property to the east of the
facility who owns the field where some of the gulls sit. He was uneasy
about invasion of privacy of people looking with scopes so please be
respectful of this landowner. I was not on his property at the time but
just at the edge of the road.
