Hello all, This morning at approximated 7:30 AM I came across a female Connecticut Warbler at the far NE part of Old Cut Woods in Long Point. I observed the bird skulking around the base of a large cedar for a couple of minutes. Half an hour later, I had the bird again, skulking around the same tree. It popped up into the open for close to half a minute before disappearing again under the cedar.
I observed a total of 26 warbler species this morning in the Long Point area, other highlights being: - a Louisiana Waterthrush in the same area that the Connecticut was seen, around 8:15 AM. - a male Hooded Warbler in the south part of Old Cut, seen by many throughout the morning. - female Cerulean Warbler in the trees just north of the main parking lot near the beginning of the Provincial Park - Blue-winged Warblers: singles at the Wilson Tract, and at Old Cut - Orange-crowned Warbler at the eastern part of Old Cut - many Blackpoll, Northern Parula. Directions to Old Cut: From Highway 24, take HWY 59 south. As you approach the beach at Long Point, the road goes to the left and is called Erie Blvd. Keep following this to the east until you reach Old Cut Blvd. Turn left on Old Cut Blvd and follow it for a few hundred meters. Parking is in the open field on the left (West), the woods and banding station is on the right (East). Good birding, Josh Vandermeulen _________________________________________________________________ Find info faster and easier with Internet Explorer 8. http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9655583_______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
