What a great day local birding today. Started at Shell park where saw among the
warblers there a Yellow-breasted chat ,was in behind the garden plots at the
junction of the trail in some tangles. Then went over to Sherwood Forest park
in Burlington on a tip about an Olive-sided Flycatcher which we refound after
bit of looking. After the flycatcher was lucky to see a Connecticut Warbler for
a little bit before it went and hid. The flycatcher and warbler were as far
south as you can go in the park along the creek on the east bank.
Decided to finish off with trying to find a Golden-winged Warbler that was
being seen at Paletta Park. Found the warbler very easily down by the lake in
the south-east corner.
Ended with 24 species of warblers between the 3 small parks for a sastifying
day of birding

Directions to Shell park
Get off QEW at Burloak Drive exit and drive south towards the lake, it becomes
Great Lakes Drive. Stay on that to Lakeshore road and turn left at Lakeshore,
then make the first left into the park. The best spot is behind the garden
plots there is a little woodlot, over the first creek bridge.

Paletta park is along Lakeshore road driving west into Burlington, after you
pass Appleby line in half a km will see the park entrance on the lefthand side.

Sherwood Forest Park is also from the Burloak Drive exit off the QEW. Again
drive towards the lake but just after you cross the roailroad tracks turn right
at the traffic lights and take to the end, then make another right and follow
into the park.

Good Luck Andrew Don
