I was at Chaffeys Locks from around 12pm to 2:30pm. A lot of activity despite
the cooler temperatures. I came across 8 CERULEAN WARBLERS, 3 YELLOW-THROATED
VIREOS, 3 BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS, 2 INDIGO BUNTINGS, and the big surprise for
the afternoon, 2 TENNESSEE WARBLERS that were mingling with mostly RED-EYED
VIREOS in a clearing off of Opinicon Road. AMERICAN REDSTARTS, BLACK-AND-WHITE
WARBLERS, and OVENBIRDS were also in abundance. As I was leaving, a
RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD treated me to a courtship display over Lake Opinicon
near the Skycroft Campgrounds.

DIRECTIONS: Follow Hwy 15 south past Portland, turning right onto Chaffeys
Lock Road. Follow this through Chaffeys Lock (where the road becomes Opinicon
Road) for about 8km. Watch for the "Skycroft Campgrounds" sign on the left,
and anywhere along the roadside and along the marked trails across from the
campgrounds are fair game for the species mentioned.
