Hi All, An American Woodcock is in my backyard feeding on earthworms. He is impeccably dressed and very hungry, inserting that long beak into the sod, at times right to the hilt, and coming up with nice fat worms. I heard him last night but couldn't find him and he didn't appear in my yard until around 5 pm today, April 6th. The yard backs on Leaside Park and is at the north end of the Leaside Bridge.
I guess this is a hint that I need to catch up on my yard work. I didn't realize I had neglected it to the point of now providing attractive habitat for Woodcock. No views from the park due to fencing design; I will post tomorrow if he is still here, then email me privately if you wish to come to view. Happy Birding, Lynne Terris Leaside _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
