Last Saturday I noticed a bird sleeping on a hydro wire on Strandherd Drive,
directly west of the Home Depot Parking lot (the crest was a give away!). A
small creek parallels the west side of the HD parking lot. The bird was fishing
in the open water and made several passes along the frozen creek (which runs
north-south) and it returned to sit on the hydro wires. I also photographed it
perched just off the snow on the creek bank. I was shocked to see this bird in
Ottawa in January when it should be in southern United States. Hopefully it
survived the brutal cold temperatures last week.

Good Birding.
