Last Saturday I noticed a bird sleeping on a hydro wire on Strandherd Drive, directly west of the Home Depot Parking lot (the crest was a give away!). A small creek parallels the west side of the HD parking lot. The bird was fishing in the open water and made several passes along the frozen creek (which runs north-south) and it returned to sit on the hydro wires. I also photographed it perched just off the snow on the creek bank. I was shocked to see this bird in Ottawa in January when it should be in southern United States. Hopefully it survived the brutal cold temperatures last week. Good Birding. Sandra L.
