Hi,
Took a short break from the festivities this afternoon to do some birding.
After seeing the reports of the Northern Hawk Owl on Hastings Street, I dropped
by for 15 minutes at around 2:30 and had great views of the bird sitting up in
a tree.  At one point, it was mobbed by a Hairy Woodpecker.
Then visited the Hilda Rd feeder at Shirley's Bay.  Nothing out of the
ordinary, but while backing the car out to exit the NCC parking area at approx
3:25, I saw two Ruffed Grouse about 4 feet up a tree at the back (east side) of
the parking lot.
Merry Christmas.
