Hi Ontbirders! I am a fourth year biology student at Queen's University who needs your help! I am currently working on a thesis project looking at the effects of interspecific interactions on the distribution of migratory birds in Eastern North America, and am asking for help collecting observations of interactions between these groups of closely related species:
1) Song Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow, and Swamp Sparrow 2) Dark-eyed Junco, White-crowned Sparrow, and White-throated Sparrow 3) Fox Sparrow and American Tree Sparrow 4) Field Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, and Clay Coloured Sparrow 5) Snow Bunting and Lapland Longspur If you see a competitive or an aggressive interaction (such as a chase or a displacement) between any of these species within a group, I want to know about it! Any and all sightings will be very welcome, and will be very useful in my thesis, which I hope to publish next year. I look forward to hearing from you! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Cheers, Nicola Banger Kingston, Ontario _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
