Hey Ontbirders,

Today CCFEW (Citizens Concerned about the Etobicoke Waterfront) had their
November walk at Humber Bay Park East.

Highlights were a male Harlequin Duck in the inner bay across from the two
towers and the large white bridge on the far east side of the park. The bird
was amongst a dozen or so Hooded Mergansers (almost all males).

There was also a silent flock of Common Redpolls hidden amongst some American
Goldfinches feeding in a birch tree not far into the park along the northern
side of the walking path (close to the first bridge if you know the park well).

Parking: Park in the large lot on the east side of the humber river and walk
east along the walking trail to the far point that faces Toronto Island. Both
of these birds and many other tidbits were found on this section. Lots
(dozens) of Common Loons were seen not to far offshore on the lakeside.

Directions: Humber Bay Park East is found at the foot of Park Lawn. It is the
southern extension of Park Lawn Rd. (below Lakeshore Blvd.) that winds its way
into the large parking lot (stay right after Lakeshore Blvd.)

Cheers,

Andrew Keaveney
