Hello Ontbirders, A beautiful morning in Ottawa with the great company of Bob Cermak, Richard Waters, Jan Slumkoski and Bernie Ladouceur resulted in quite a few great August birds. The ridge was a bit quieter this morning than normal but a Wilson's Warbler and N. Waterthrush were seen here along with Blackburnian Warbler.
The busiest area was in the open area to the south of Cassels road (if you vere right from the path). An Olive-Sided Flycatcher gave us great looks as it sat in various dead trees. Also in the general vicinity we were able to locate another Wilson's Warbler. Canada and Magnolia Warblers plus a nice Philadelphia Vireo. Eleven species of warbler was not shabby at all. Anyone heading down to Britannia can have a good day. This week an imm. Bald Eagle made an appearance and the Osprey are around usually. Looks like the weekend is going to be nice to get out. Good birding, Jay Peterson Britannia, Ottawa Directions: Mud Lake and Britannia can be accessed by Poulin or Britannia road (off Richmond road at Carling). Continue down Britannia road to Cassels road, turn right and continue onto the entrance to the woods. The ridge is on the north side of the road, the forest and clearing to the south. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
