Friends of Point Pelee provides daily updates of sightings within Point
Pelee National Park during the Festival of Birds May 3 through May 19, 2008

This morning was sunny with clear blue skies but still strong north
westerly winds.

Hillman Shorebird Cell: Continues to be an excellent location! Mottled
Duck, Short-billed Dowitcher, Ruddy Turnstone, Least Sandpiper and
Black-bellied Plover were present yesterday afternoon - evening. There
were 2 Blue-winged Warblers and a Sedge Wren seen as well. Many of the
plovers could be seen flying over the Park this morning.

Tip Area: Northern Parula Warbler (F), White-eyed Vireo, and Eastern
Bluebird. The Laughing Gulls and Sanderlings were on the east side.

Woodland Nature Trail: Northern Parula (M) and Tennessee Warblers. Great
Crested Flycatcher. The Eastern Screech-Owl that thrilled people yesterday
has not been re-located yet.

Visitor Centre Parking Area: Peregrine Falcon, Bald Eagle, Northern
Harrier, and Red-tailed Hawk.

Tilden Woods: Hooded (M), Blackburnian, Canada, Black-throated Blue (F),
American Redstart, and Magnolia Warblers. White-eyed Vireo,
Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Carolina Wren. There are reports of more than
15 species of warblers within Tilden Woods. Also of interest is all the
frantic nest building activity.

This is the last day for guided hikes. On behalf of the Hike Leaders and
all associated with the Friends of Point Pelee we thank you for the
opportunity to have been of service to you during "The Festival of Birds"
this spring! We hope you enjoyed your time in Point Pelee and we all look
forward to seeing you next year!
