Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter: Cindy Isenhoff

Observers: Martha Derbowka, Paul Pratt

Visitors:
Paul Pratt brought a group from a local nature center who spent much of the
morning with us.

Weather:
A very cool and overcast morning didn't change much over the day. Temps
started at 4.2 C with a high of 10.6 C. Winds began NW the first hour and
a half, and switched to S the rest of the day. Cloud cover remained
throughout the day at 90% to 100%.

Raptor Observations:
Birds were crossing the marsh at the far northern edge most of the day.
Very few birds were along the lakeshore, or over the tower. Highlights
were one early Peregrine Falcon who was harrassing a Red-tailed Hawk
perched in a snag in the center of the marsh, Four Male Northern Harriers,
and an Immature Golden Eagle who crossed the marsh along the far shore
relatively high.

Non-raptor Observations:
Many Many Ducks were present today--Our visitors identified the following
varietes: Redhead, Canvasback, Green-winged Teal, American Coot,
Ring-necked, Mallard, Wood Duck, American Black Duck, Gadwall, Northern
Shoveler. American Crows were moving in large number for serval
hours...970 the first hour. Good size flocks of mixed Blackbirds including
Redwinged and Rusty. There were still at least a half dozen Great Blue
Herons in the marsh today.
