Sorry for this late report.

The male Yellow-headed Blackbird, reported since April 7 at 23 Manitou,
in the Community of Forest Park near Embrun, East of Ottawa, was present
Sunday afternoon at the feeders behind the house. I observed it in the
company of Beth and Don Wigle and the residents of 26 Larose Lane, from
their driveway, at around 3:45PM, in raining conditions.

The Wigle and I had been in the area for about an hour, and had not seen
the bird. I had tried twice last week without success either, and had
then met numerous observers who were also unlucky.

The bird does not seem to perch often as it did last winter. The best
viewing angle of the feeders of 23 Manitou appears to be from the side
of the street and the driveway at 26 Larose Lane which is the first
street West of Manitou. The owners are very kind and are quite opened
to birders. They had seen this bird at their own feeder last winter,
but had not seen it yet this year.

Good luck to anyone trying for this rare bird.

We also visited Hullett Marsh on the weekend. In addition to the =
waterfowl listed by others, we had a good view of a fly-over by an =
immature Bald Eagle, and found a single white-phase Snow Goose. In some =
of the wooded areas, there were lots of Golden-crowned Kinglets and =
Brown Creeper.

The Goderich Waterfront was also excellent yesterday, although windy. =
The Harbour has lots of Red-breasted Mergansers at close range, both =
Greater and Lesser Scaup, and a single female Long-tailed Duck. Among =
the gulls were a group of Bonaparte's Gulls and a single Little Gull =
observed at close range. Along the beach front south of the Harbour, at =
the end of the public road there were several Greater Black-backed Gulls =
and one Glaucous Gull.

Directions to Hullett - From London Area - take Hwy. 4 to Clinton, east =
on Hwy 8 and turn left at the Hullett P.W.A. sign. From Toronto - take =
the 401 to Hwy
7/8 in K-W, through Stratford to Hwy. 8 - turn right at the sign before =
Clinton. From the North, Take Hwy. 4 and turn left at the sign.

Directions to Goderich: Continue on Highway 8; from the town centre, =
West Street takes you down to the Harbour and beaches; the other side of =
the Harbour can also be accessed off Highway 21 just before the Maitland =
River valley.
