A follow up to an earlier report from
Eric Single on these Owls at Bronte.. We found the single owl near Parking lot
A, in the trees just north of the last laneway into the lot.. a tight group of
large pines is where we viewed it this morning. Also, 7 owls were found in the
woods where the un-leashed dog area is, at the south end of the park., we
walked throught the woods on a well travelled path used by dog owners., in the
photo link below, the owl was watching a woman and 2 very large dogs walk along
the path, and was un-disturbed, (pic was taken Monday)

http://www.pbase.com/raymondjbarlow/image/75564373

I am not sure how long these owls will stay around Bronte, if anyone can advise
me on their migration patterns, I would appreciate an email. Also, thanks to
everyone who posted very nice comments on some of the pictures on my website,
and for the complimentary emails, much appreciated.

Bronte Creek PP is just north of the QEW on Burloak in west Oakville., a
$12.00$ admision and $9.50 for seniors is requested., there is a maple syrup
festival going on this week for March break., along with other activities.

Also, thanks to
Eric Single for the report.

Observed a single Barrow's Goldeneye on Saturday at the Presquile Park
lighthouse. Bird was located with the use of a scope from the viewing
platform & shorline. Bird was seen by several other birders with scope's
around the noon time period. Other species of several types were there but
they are not uncommon for this time of the year.

Directions:

To reach Presqu'ile Provincial Park, follow the signs from Brighton.
Locations within the Park are shown on a map at the back of a newly
printed tabloid that is available at the Park gate. Access to the
offshore islands is restricted after March 9 to prevent disturbance to
the colonial nesting birds there.

The Laughing Gull is still hanging around Cobourg harbour, seen daily including
today, Wednesday, March 14th. It's most often near the boat launch beside the
west parking lot. If you can't find it there, check the edge of the ice in the
inner harbour where it sometimes loafs with Ring-billeds.

There was a juv. white Snow Goose with the Canadas on Monday and there is a
good selection of diving and dabbling ducks to enjoy.

Directions: Exit Hwy.401 at Exit 474, Division Street. Follow Division St.
south to where it ends at the harbour, then drive west around the harbour to
the main parking lot on the west side.
