Hi Everyone
A male Barrow's Goldeneye was present today at 1:00 p.m. along the Ottawa River off Lemieux Island, just east of Remic Rapids. This is probably the same individual that has been observed at Remic off and on this winter. It was along the edge of the ice between the island and the Quebec shore line.

Directions:Lemieux Island can be reached by taking Parkdale Ave. north from Hwy. 417 in Ottawa to the Ottawa River Parkway. Go east along parkway for a short distant and turn left at the lights. There is a small parking lot just before the bridge. Park and walk along bridge to the open water. If the Barrow's isn't there you can also try Remic Rapids lookout which is the first lookout just west of Lemieux Island. . During the winter months the parking lot is closed so you will have to park at the next parking area just west of Remic and walk back east to Remic. .
