Winter Listers,
The Black-legged Kittiwake first reported at noon on Dec. 14 was still in
the same location in the Erieau Marina this Tuesday morning. It always
hangs very close to the concrete pier in the SW end of the marina. It
appears to be staring at the concrete most of the time! It fairly easy to
pick out from the hundreds of Bonaparte's gulls. I have a photo to submit
to the OFO photo page.
There were well over 2500 Bonaparte's Gulls here on Sunday, but strangely no
Little Gulls were found. The Black-crowned Night-Heron was not seen either.
Directions to Erieau: The port of Erieau is located south of Blenheim.
West out of Blenheim on Talbot Trail (Rd. 3), turn left onto (Erieau Rd.)
Rd. 12 and follow to village. At the T-intersection in front of the store,
turn left, then a quick right. Go a very short distance to the entrance to
the marina. You can park on the gravel along the street and look into
marina at the gulls.
Good Winter listing!
