Yesterday evening, close to dusk, I had a Cave Swallow at my home in
Clearcreek. This bird kept landing under my porch, and appeared to be
trying to roost. I got within 2-3 meters of it, and it was showing
signs of weakness. After dark I went under the porch with a flashlight
to try to find it but it was gone.

  Directions to Clearcreek.

When driving south on #59 towards long point turn west onto Lakeshore
(this is the intersection with gas station that will take you east on
Front Road to Port Rowan). Follow this road for about 10 minutes until
you see the sign for Clearcreek.

Hi Everyone
Just finished birding the Ottawa River from Remic Rapids to Shirley's Bay and then half way up to Constance Bay. As mentioned earlier by Tony Beck there is a fallout/flight of both Red-throated and Commons Loons along the Ottawa River. I observed a total of 178 Red-throated and 123 Common Loons. The Red-throated were observed in two main flocks 67 and 78 observed at Shirley's Bay plus a few smaller groups, 8 and 11 off Dick Bell Park birds plus 5 singles along the Western Parkway at Remic, Kitchissippi, and Deschenes Lookout. This is the seventh time I've recorded more than 30 Red-throated, all since 1983 and between November 8/14 except one flock on Oct.27. The Common Loons were spread out along the river in small groups (3 to 6) individuals but I did have one flock of 44 off Britannia Pier. Surprisingly, its one of my largest flocks for the Ottawa area. Other birds of note including 26 male Black Scoter, 4 male Surf Scoter and 14 male White-winged Scoter. Off Shirley's Bay an immature Bald Eagle was perched along the dyke and 2 adult Peregrine Falcons were resting on the Coats Building. A late Bonaparte's Gull and 2 Double-crested Cormorant were at Deschenes Rapids.
If you require additional information, please email me privately.
