While the goose we saw above Niagara Falls Thursday, was a close match for the
immature W-f Goose depicted in the Nat'l Geographic guide (and not their
Greylag picture), Willie D'Anna warns that there has been escaped Greylag in
that area and Willie has likely been at much closer range than us. So be
warned! Hugh, Andrew and Richard

The Yellow-throated Warbler was seen again this morning (Saturday) just =
before 10 AM. Birders had been there for some time prior to its =
appearance. The bird was seen in the corner by the pier itself, not the =
pines where it has been seen before.=20

The Eastern Kingbird and Bay-breasted Warbler were also seen in the same =
general area at the base of the pier.

Directions: Exit the QEW at Burloak and go towards the lake. Burloak =
becomes Great Lakes. Turn left at the lights at Lakeshore. The Petro =
Canada Pier is very close to those lights.

Sue and I saw a female Harlequin Duck at the foot of West River Street =
(off Bronte Bluffs) at 12:30 PM. Thanks to Mark Jennings for the tip.

Directions: Exit the QEW at Bronte Rd. and go south to Lakeshore Rd. and =
turn right. Cross Bronte Creek and make the first left. The bird was =
with Buffleheads fairly close to shore.

Just refound the bird at the south side of the marsh at the blocked off road.
There is a large flock of Dunlin also present

A sunny Nov.4 brought as many as 25 visitors to the Cranberry Marsh RW in
Whitby, many of whom enjoyed close-up photographing of passerines.
A Northern Parula was certainly a highlight along the pathway leading to the
platform.
The wetland was frozen over in the early morning. Later, the usual ducks,
along with 2 Am.Coots were seen.

Many of us enjoyed watching the "antics" of a juvenile Peregrine Falcon
between 9 and 10am--harassed and being harassed by resident N.Harriers to
the east over the alder island.
4 of the 5 N.Harriers counted were male.

At 1130am (the recent times for arrival of the Golden Eagles (!!), a
SHORT-EARED OWL came through low.

Observations made by 10 raptor-observers over 6 hours on Nov.4
