Hello Ontbirders At 5:30 today I saw a male Snowy Owl sitting on a fencepost while driving down Frank Kenny Rd between French Hill and Regimbauld roads. I also saw an American Kestrel hunting in the same area. I did not check for the Great Grey Owl sighted along Giroux. Directions: From the 417 turn right (South) on Trim Road exit and then turn left (East) on Innes Road, turn right (South) on Frank Kenny Rd. Alex Stone Ottawa On. It was generally a good day of birding despite the cold weather. =20 1. At LaSalle Park, a single horned grebe in winter plumage was present. There was a good variety of species as well. 2. At Beamer Point, an immature golden eagle was spotted around 2:00 PM. 3. At the bottom of 50 Road, there were large flocks of long-tailed ducks and scoters. Mixed in with the scoters was a single male king = eider. =20 Directions: =20 Lasalle Park - take the Waterdown Road exit off the 403. Follow the = signs. =20 Beamer Point - Beamer Conservation Area is located on top of the Niagara Escarpment above the town of Grimsby, Ontario. The site is 1km south of = the south shore of Lake Ontario, 20km east of Hamilton, 40km west of Niagara Falls. To get to Beamer CA, take the QEW to Exit 72, follow Christie St./Mountain St. to the top of the escarpment, turn right on Ridge Road West, and go 1.6km to Quarry Rd. Turn right on Quarry Rd. and drive 100m = to the conservation area. Parking is normally available inside the park.
