Today 19 car-loads of OFO members eager to beat the cold and find some
interesting birds were not disappointed. A total of 71 species were
recorded despite the cold and wind. Narrowly missing the Eurasian
Wigeon at Lee Brown's was our only real setback.
Best finds were a Lesser Yellowlegs with Killdeer and 2 Tree
Swallows along Concession 1, a Pectoral Sandpiper along Concession A
road, and in the woods at Big Creek along the same road: Tufted
Titmouse, Carolina Wren, Brown Creeper, Red-bellied Woodpecker, &
Golden-crowned Kinglets. 19 duck species were seen, including
Canvasback, both Teal, Redhead & 15 Ruddy Ducks. Other good finds were
Pied-billed Grebe, Turkey Vulture, Rough-legged Hawk, Harrier, 5 Bald
Eagles, about 250 Coot, Great Horned Owl, Fox & Chipping sparrows, and
  a flock of Rusty Blackbirds.
Many thanks to George Pond who led this outing, ably assisted by
  Jim Heslop and Bob Stamp.

Saturday afternoon, March 18 we were treated to seeing hundreds of snow =
geese flying between corn fields and the St. Lawrence River. This was =
just east of Lancaster on the Old Montreal Road. We also saw thousands =
of Canada Geese in the Iroquois to Lancaster region. As well, we saw =
perhaps a 1000 crows (quite a murder) in a field north of 401 right at =
the middle (of 3) interchange leading into Cornwall. While we stopped =
in Cornwall we witnessed a steady stream of crows flying in a southernly =
direction over the city. =20

Hi all,
The OFO field trip finished at Turkey Point and Penny and I decided to try for this bird again (it was our first stop this morning). I checked over the over 300 waterfowl in and around the wets and finally found it - actively feeding in a smallish wet patch in the SW corner of the field. We left at 4:40 p.m. Drive west of Hwy.#59 on Concession 7 - the wet field is on your right as soon as you cross the bridge over Big Creek. We also found 3 Sandhill Crane feeding on the south side of Lakeshore Rd (HN#42) opposite #2439 ~1 km. west of Lee Brown W.A. - it was 5:30 and time to wend our weary way home after a most enjoyable and 'productive' day'. Cheers! Maris
