The only thing different that I heard about today was a BLACK-HEADED GULL
seen feeding on the Buffalo side of the river from Fort Erie, Ont. It was
just south of the International RR bridge. The female HARLEQUIN DUCK at
Niagara-on-the-Lake was seen again this morning. I don't believe the Purple
Sandpipers were found today. White-winged gulls seemed more difficult to
find today, especially above the falls.

Good birding!
Willie

A wonderful day's "winter birding" in the Long Point area. Highlights:
2 Grey Partridge with an enormous flock of Horned Larks, Snow Buntings
and Mourning Doves in a cornfield adjacent to Brantford Airport( just
east of #24 ). A female Coopers Hawk put the birds up as it flew low
   over the field.
     - On Front St. east of Fisher's Glen were 12 male Eastern Bluebirds,
a Flicker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, a male Oregon Junco visiting a
feeder, Cowbirds, 4 Pine Siskins, a male Eastern Towhee and
   White-throated Sparrows.
    - On the beach at Turkey Point was a Killdeer and 10 American Pipits.
2 adult Bald Eagles, 200+ Tundra Swans, and a Horned Grebe could be
   seen from the marina.
    - In Port Rowan a Wilson's Snipe, Swamp Sparrow and many Grackles
were around the Biosphere Reserve sign. Over 40 Sandhill Cranes flew
over. On Long Point Bay were many Redhead, a few Canvasback, one Ruddy
Duck, Green-winged Teal, and several Hooded Mergansers.
    - Winter Wren at Normandale sewage ponds.
    - Two Fox Sparrows, a female Purple Finch, & a Carolina Wren were at
the Old Cut feeders, at the end of the causeway at Long Point.
    - at Hahn's Marsh alongside a stream were Tufted Titmouse, a Rusty
   Blackbird & Red-winged Blackbirds.
    - along Concession 2 near Backus Conservation Area was a Pipit and a
Vesper Sparrow. The Eastern Meadowlark was along the entrance road to
the cons. area with 2 Chipping Sparrows.
