Hi Everyone
October 20, 2005- birded along the Ottawa River from Ottawa to Constance
Bay. Overall ,windy conditions made it somewhat difficult viewing birds at a
distance but a few interesting species were noted. At Andrew Haydon Park, a
flock of 40+ Brant and 1 female Black Scoter were observed resting on the
water. While at Shirley's Bay a Red-throated Loon was seen off the boat
launch and a flock of 3 Snow Bunting along the shoreline.
At least 3 Red-headed Woodpeckers, 1 adult and 2 immatures were observed
at the old burn site at Constance Bay and the Carolina Wren in the back
ravine behind my house was still singing late this morning. There was a
noticeable increase in both Common Goldeneye and Bufflehead along the Ottawa
River.
