Weather:
Today’s conditions were very similar to yesterday with blue skies and light
to moderate southeast winds.

Raptor Observations:
The flight was also similar but with a bit less diversity and an increase
in the movement of Sharpies. The Broad-wing number was greatly affected by
the wind direction as the few kettles we saw were detected as pepper specks
well to the north of the count area. Undoubtedly there were other groups
beyond our range of vision.

Non-raptor Observations:
The real excitement of the day occurred in the last hour of the count when
a Frigatebird flew up the channel in front of us! This bird I’m sure was
storm-stayed from Hurricane Katrina that made land fall on the Gulf Coast
last week. It was in view for 20-25 minutes before flying off to the
northeast.
