Hi Everyone
Lots of activity this weekend at Presqu'ile P.P. On Saturday, Sept. 3rd
there were at least 2 Buff-breasted Sandpipers between Beach #3 and Owen
Point/Gull Island and on Sunday aternoon a juv. Western Sandpiper was
present feeding at Owen Point . Other shorebirds of note included 1
Whimbrel, 15+ Baird's Sandpiper, 2 Red Knot, 1 Stilt Sandpiper, 2
Short-billed Dowitcher and 6 Am. Golden Plover. An early Lapland Longspur
along with 8 Am. Pipits were feeding along the shoreline at Owen Point on
Sept. 4th..
Yesterday morning there was an excellent movement of land birds between
Calf Pasture and the Lighthouse with 18 species of warblers in the morning
including 100+ Nashville, 200+ Yellow-rumped, Canada, Wilson's,
Bay-breasted, Blackpoll, Northern Parula, and Black-throated Blue Warblers.
Other species of interest included 1 Olive-sided Flycatcher, 30+ E.W.Pewee,
1 Gray-cheeked Thrush, 20+ Scarlet Tanager and 1 Dark-eyed Junco.
