Hi Everyone

Today, August 20, 2005 we birded most of the eastern Ontario sewage lagoons. Overall, it was rather quiet for shorebirds due to high water levels at all lagoons. The most interesting observation was the number of Ruddy Ducks at Alfred, St. Isisdore and Casselman. A total of 100+ were observed with young at all 3 lagoons. Also noted was a lone adult Snow Goose near Casselman and over 300+ Bobolinks in small flocks scattered at the various lagoons.

DIRECTIONS: From the town of Alfred go east on Highway 17, then turn
south on Peat Moss Road and drive for 2 km. The lagoons are on your left
(east side of road). Contact Richard Villeneuve, Township of Alfred and
Plantagenet at (613) 679-2292 for the required permit to enter the lagoons
