Wed. evening there were 2 red-necked phalaropes in the SE cell & 2 Wilson's in
the NE cell. No sign of willets or golden plover seen earlier in day by others.
Good numbers of the more common shorebirds mostly along the edges of the NE
cell .
Please note during the day a lot of trucks , backhoes etc.working around
banks of NE cell : best to go in evening or weekends.Construction should
continue for about another week after which I suspect that cell will be
refilled & shorebird habitat lost.
SE cell should continue to be good for this season.
    Directions : From Jarvis at Hwy.#6 & #3 turn west along #3 , go approx.2
km. to Richardson Parkway & turn right, at the first cross road ( concession 14
) go left or west & lagoons are on the right just past the first farm.

Hi all!
I had occasion to go to Exeter yesterday evening and checked out the
Eared Grebe(my 3rd trip - 2nd. sighting). The algae mats seem to be growing
and last night there were 3 Baird's Sandpipers busily flying from mat to
mat. I also saw 4 Pied-billed Grebes, 1 female Hooded Merganser, a few
Green-winged Teal and some 45-50 Ruddy Duck.

                                                         Cheers! Maris

Directions: Exeter SL are located south of Huron #83 on Airport Road(west
of Hwy#4) - best parking and easiest entry is at gate at the south end of
the complex. You can get a free permit to access these lagoons from the
Town Hall on east side of Hwy#4 - London Road - in the centre of town.

P.S. Last Sunday Penny and Emily saw 3 Sanderlings(one still had some
red)at our beach - I saw only one, by the time I came down, but I saw 3
Green Heron behind our house in the Ausable cut the same day.
Yesterday there was a dead carp with a juvenile Herring Gull picking
at it - a Turkey Vulture dispossessed him - shortly there were 10 more TV's
in the air, but none landed while we watched for some 15 mins. - do T.V.'s
usually take turns at a carcass or had these been reading Emily Post?
I'm planning to check out Grand Bend lagoons later to-day, so will post
anything of interest.
