The paths leading off Hall's Rd. to Cranberry Marsh have been alive with
songbirds during recent mornings. On Aug.13, in exchange (!!) for Ron
Pittaway's drawing my attention to a distant Alder Flycatcher, then his
asking me to help verify Bobolinks in flight, and then noting the beauty of
a low-flying male N. Harrier, I pointed out the just-opening female flowers
of the prolific Wild Cucumber!!!
I shall be botanizing (and, maybe birding!) in the meadows and bogs of the
Ottawa area from Aug.16-19. WHILE I AM AWAY I ASK ANY OF YOU WHO VISIT
CRANBERRY TO KEEP AN EYE TO THE SKY FOR MIGRATORY RAPTORS--please email me.
I hope to start up the CMRW around Aug.24.

For Hall's Rd.--from the west, take exit 404 (Salem Rd.) off the 401, south
to Bayly/Victoria, east through Lakeridge Rd. to the first street
east--Hall's Rd.--then south to the parking areas. From the east, take exit
410 (Brock St. in Whitby), south to Victoria, then west across the the Lynde
causeway to Hall's Rd.
