Dear Ontbirders, .. The Painted Bunting is still at Long Point Lake , Della Jo e-mailed this morning and he was at the feeder at 5:45 a.m. and stayed for half and hour. He was there last night to 8 p.m.
He still spends time in the spruce trees near the feeders. There has been some confusion regarding the location of the Painted Bunting . He is at Long Point LAKE in the District of Temiskaming and not the well known LONG POINT Peninsula in Lake Erie Long Point Lake is about a 6 hour drive NORTH of Toronto. Gert Trudel Gowganda, On [EMAIL PROTECTED] Directions: From Toronto ...Take 400 N.. to Barrie and continue North via HWY 11 N. to North Bay and continue N. to New Liskeard on HWY 11. At the bottom of the overpass at New Liskeard turn right and again right onto Hwy 65 W. to Elk Lake . In Elk Lake cross the bridge, turn right and cross the other bridge and continue to the IMOS buildings.( sand dome) Turn left onto HWY 560 W. towards Gowganda. Continue driving approx 23 KMs to Long Point Lake. Once at the lake and on top of the hill to your right is Long Point Lodge/ Airways. Drive to the BOTTOM of the Hill , turn right into the driveway....you are there. Della's home is a two story white house, spruce in front , motor home and school bus ( most of the day there) . The feeders are just to the right and in the front of the house. ( the house next to her also has a motor home) Best to park your car in the long drive and walk to the house..best chances of seeing him.
